The Inter-Orthodox Consultation of Genuine Orthodox Christians in Light of the So-Called Great Council of the Ecumenists

With the Grace of God, a great Inter-Orthodox Consultation of the Genuine Orthodox Churches of Greece, the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and Romania took place in which Hierarchs, Presbyters, Deacons and Lay representatives took part, totaling forty people.

The Consultation took place in Acharnes, Attica on Thursday May 13/26, 2016 at the invitation of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens and all Greece from 10 am until 7 pm.

His Eminence, Metropolitan Agafangel, First-Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad came from Ukraine, Archbishop George of Kishinev came from the Republic of Moldova, and three Hierarchs came from Romania: Bishops Sofronie of Suceava, Glicherie of Iaşi, and Evloghie of Sibiu.

From the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece, the following Hierarchs were present: Their Eminences Metropolitans Gerontios of Piraeus and Salamis, Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia, Gregory of Thessalonica, Photios of Demetrias, Moses of Toronto, Demetrius of America, Cyprian of Oropos and Phyle; Their Eminences Bishops Ambrose of Philippi, Silvano of Luni, and Auxentios of Etna and Portland, and Their Graces Bishops Ambrose of Methone and Clement of Gardikion. The Remaining Metropolises and Dioceses of Greece within and without Greece were represented by their Locum Tenentes Hierarchs and by Clergy and Laity.

The Secretariat of the Consultation was made up of Their Eminences, Metropolitans Photios of Demetrias, Cyprian of Oropos and Phyle, and His Grace Bishop Clement of Gardikion.

The Consultation had as its aim the study and extensive consultation on two important documents on which full agreement was reached: a) “The Confession of Faith of the Genuine Orthodox Christian” with a view to be adopted as a common Inter-Orthodox Declaration against Ecumenism, and b) “True Orthodoxy in Opposition to the Heresy of Syncretistic Ecumenism.”

These documents, which will soon be published, and especially the second document are directly related to the so-called Great Council of the Ecumenists, which will take place in Crete around Holy Pentecost (June 6/19, 2016).

The Consultation had the clear and deep awareness that it is preparing the groundwork for a Great Pan-Orthodox Council of True Orthodoxy, which will confront the Pan-Heresy of Syncretistic Ecumenism based on the Synodal Tradition.

At the Consultation the reasons were examined for which it is not possible in any way to consider the convocation of a Synod of Ecumenists to be Great or Holy. There was also a chronological retelling of the so-called Ecumenical Movement’s path of apostasy which appeared in the beginning of the 20th century; how it has gone through many stages and has already reached its peak in our days.

The historic and very important Pan-Orthodox Consultation was conducted within a climate of mutual respect, mutual understanding, concord and a spirit of peace, pure zeal and love in Christ.

Saint Matthew the Evangelist, Jonesboro, Arkansas

Jonesboro is a town located near the Eastern border of Arkansas, with a population of approximately 60,000.
