Thousands of people gathered together to celebrate the feast of our Lord's Resurrection together with His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrius and his predecessor Metropolitan Paul, and the clergy of the St Markella Cathedral, in Astoria, NY. His Eminence traveled from the monastery of Saint John of San Francisco on Holy Friday to be at the Cathedral for the Vespers service and remained until the bright feast of Pascha. His Eminence also received into our Metropolis a new presbyter, coming from the Antiochian Archdiocese, Priest Elias Alraeadi, who will be stationed at the Cathedral.
His Eminence greets all the faithful with the paschal greeting: Christ is Risen!
